History & Heritage
The Lansdowne, Eastbourne has been owned and run by the same family since 1882, now in its fourth generation. It is one of only a handful of UK hotels to hold a family ownership record spanning over 110 years. The hotel sea-facing lounges retain original Victorian features, offering guests a direct link to its long history.
Dining
The on-site 1912 Seafood & Steak Restaurant opened in October 2022 and is open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It has a street-side entrance and large airy dining space offering views over the sea. The restaurant name reflects the hotel's founding year and serves as a dedicated dining hotspot in Eastbourne.
Rooms
The hotel has 98 bedrooms, including seven double-bedded executive rooms, three superior rooms, and one junior suite - all south-facing with sea views. Executive, superior, and suite rooms include bottled water and upgraded toiletries. Family rooms are available and can accommodate a family of four.
Pet-Friendly Policies
The Lansdowne has dedicated policies for pets, including specialised dog meals available for purchase at reception. There are designated spaces within the hotel where guests can sit with their dogs without disturbing others. Dogs are welcome throughout most public areas, with clear pet-friendly room allocations.
Location & Nearby Attractions
The hotel is less than 200 metres from Eastbourne beach and directly opposite the Western Lawns. Eastbourne Pier is a 10-minute walk away, and the Royal Eastbourne golf club is a 5-minute drive. Beachy Head's chalk cliffs are 2 miles from the hotel.
